One Lovely Blog Award

I got this award from Joo at Daily haiku. And a thousand thanks to her. I'm deebly honoured!

The rules for sharing this award are different than other awards because instead of just passing it on to just anyone, you are supposed to pass it on to blogs you've recently discovered.

1) Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award, and his or her blog link. You can also make a comment about the person who gave the award to you by asking your readers to stop by their blog, pay them a visit, leave a comment, or even 'follow' their blog if they feel led to.

2) Pass the award on to other blogs that you’ve newly discovered. Contact these bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award. Just go to their site and leave a comment to one of their posts telling them you have an award for them and to please come by your blog to get it. Just a little note: You pick the number of blogs to pass the award to, just give it to those you have recently discovered.

These are my recently discovered blogs:

Tamarindo, Costa Rica Daily Photo
Trojan's Corner
My India
Dusty Lens - North Metro and Beyond
Bath Daily Photo Blog

  2. Thank you very much for the award. I am flattered. I will have to read up on the protocol of the award later, as I am about to leave for the airport to fly from Costa Rica to the USA.

As you may recall from my comments on your site in the past, my wife and I enjoyed our visit to Copenhagen several years ago. Julie is Danish in ancestry (sorry, my ancestors were German on my father's side and Swedish on my mother's side).

One of our memories is getting up from dinner at our restaurant in Tivoli Gardens to watch the royal family walk right by down the sidewalk on their way from a concert in the music hall to a party. I think it was a celebration of the Prince Consort's 70th birthday. I have photos of members of the royal family. I did not know who was who as I was snapping pictures at the people who looked regal. I have a close up photo of the queen, but, unfortunately, mostly of her backside.

i have another photo from Tivoli at night that shows our hotel room in the background with the light on and the figure of my wife in the window, as Julie was on the phone back to the office, working.

Again, I am grateful to you for thinking of me for the award.

  6. Thanks for the comments to all.

@Dave: I think most Danes have distant relatives in the US. A total of 800.000 - 900.000 Danes emigrated during the 19th and early 20th century to especially the US Mid West. They left due to the industrializing of the farms, poverty and plain old wanderlust. I know that some of my great-grand mothers family left in that period, so I too have some relatives "over there".

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay here. To see Royalty in Copenhagen just strolling around is very common. They have "escorts" nowadays, but they do try not to behave like they are too high above the rest of us plebs:-) It's the same with both politicians and celebrities, we like them to be like ordinary people.

    Enjoy your trip.
