St. Bendts Church in
Ringsted west of Copenhagen was originally a
Benedictine abbey church. It was build in 1170 as one of the earliest brick buildings in Europe. It's the last resting place for 5 Danish medieval kings and a great number of nobilities.
I found your photoblog through your comment on my wife's Scottsdale, Arizona, USA, daily photo site. Your pictures are great.
ReplyDeleteWe were in Copenhagen during a trip to Scandinavia in 2004, but it was too brief a visit, especially in view of the fact that my wife's ethnic heritage is Danish. (My mother's family was Swedish in origin.) We hope to return.
The architecture of this sacred place really appeals to me...I am fascinated by the varying roof lines! Beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteAnother perfect framing of an ancient and wonderful building. The blue sky is stunning and I like the angle of shooting. Great church, impressive shot.
ReplyDeleteA little late welcome to Dave. I'm sure you'll enjoy Denmark at least in summertime. But remember an umbrella. :-) And thanks to Sniffles_and_Smiles and Vogon Poet for your kind comments.
