Værnedamsvej - a street with a Parisian flair

Værnedamsvej is a small street on the municipal boundary between Copenhagen and Frederiksberg. The street stretches over 190 meters and connects Gammel Kongevej with the junction where Vesterbrogade and Frederiksberg Allé meet. The name comes from Werner Damm (d. 1762), who in the 1730s ran a popular eatery in the street. The street was formerly known for its many butcher shops, but today there is only one. Instead there are many small shops and cafés, and the street currently has a Parisian flair. Here the shops has moved out on the streets for a bit of celebration.

The shot ice bear

"Polar bear with cubs" is a statue in Langelinie and represents Greenland. It was cast in bronze by the Danish sculptor Holger Wederkinch and was awarded with gold medal in 1929 in Paris. If you look closely you will notice the polar bear has some bullet holes, made by a German soldier under the Occupation of Denmark. -RS

La Defense revisited

Another photo from La Defense, Paris. I've posted this before, back when this blog was in Danish, but maybe new readers haven't seen it before. It's a reflection in a huge steel sphere and the people in the image are my travel mates.

This image concludes my theme of reflections. My next theme starting tomorrow will be churches, cathedrals, chapels, cemeteries, crosses and any other religious building or artifact that I've run across on my photo safaris.

La Defense

The glass facades in modern buildings are as told before good as reflectors. Here it's one of the many opportunities in La Defense in Paris where I've captured both a kind of silo and its reflection.
