Art and Netto

Sometimes the art in the streets of Copenhagen doesn't make sense to me, like this metal thing outside the discount store Netto in Ørestad. But I guess art doesn't have to make sense all the time. It's made by Harvey Martin and is call "Me - a Jet Pilot", which still doesn't make sense to me...

  1. Thanks for a wonderfull tour around your pictures, I like and recognise most of them.

As much as I like the way you point your lense I don't like your comments on the pictures, they are, from my point of view, very narrow minded and only seen from your own view, and that's for me as a journalist all wrong.

There is more to a picture than meets the eye.....

  2. Thanks for your tour and your comments, Deidre-Ann, they are appreciated, even though I don't agree on it all.

You're absolutely right, my comments are seen from my own view, as this is my blog after all:-) Of course I don't see myself as especially narrow minded, often quite the opposite.

I do care for my city and do have opinions about what is going on here and elsewhere. The photographs and comments are my side of the story of what and how I see the world around me.

I'm not a journalist, so I think I'm allowed to have an "angle", and even journalists that I know of, very often have an angle hidden in their reporting...

Again thanks for your constructive and on the whole nice comments:-)

I attended a presentation given by the city council's art historian a few weeks ago and he said he thought the artist was deceiving people with this title. He thought the piece resembled more a crucification than a jet pilot. Of course both motives share the prospect of immediate "ascension"..

  4. Art often is open to interpretation but the title is the artist's way of leading the viewer's mind. But as the art historian, I have a hard time seeing the jet pilot:-)
