Not always empty

 

The Copenhagen metro is not always as empty as this. There's usually a fair amount of people onboard hence the shift to less seatings and more standing room. These driverless trains are often the fastest way of crossing Copenhagen if one of the only two lines run near you and your destination. As told before the third line, which is under construction, will be a very needed addition to the system when it's ready in 2018.

Leave your bike

One of the many great things about Copenhagen is the access one has to places without having to rely on owning a vehicle. Although expensive there is a great public transport system and one can cycle with great ease. At Valby station I came across this bicycle rack in which owners of bicycles had clearly stored but never collected their bikes! -RS

Getting around in the winter

In the winter it is not unusual for the canals of the city to freeze up completely, even the ones leading to the sea from which most of the well-known pictures of Copenhagen are taken.

Even during the harshest winter public transport has to run and the waterbusses operate on the canals. These are a worthwhile alternative for tourists anytime of year as the same tickets you use for your metro, bus or rail transport is valid on these.

Getting around in Budapest

When travelling to a foreign city like Budapest, getting around can often be a challenge. Not in Budapest, though. Here the public transport worked, both trams, buses and metro, when I was there in February.
