Dialling the exposure down you can get the sun nice and round, while still catching a few details. Klintebjerg offered a few boats as foreground attraction.

Sunset

Followers of this blog know that sunsets and sunrises are among my favourite subjects. But I also like to be a bit creative and use silhouettes as a point of focus. Here it's the grass at the beach that gives a bit of extra to the photo

Almost sundown

 

A favourite motive of mine is silhouettes like this with the sun on its way down and a striking silhouette of a tree, a building or another easily recognizable item in the foreground. This one is from Bogense Cemetery taken with my iPhone and edited in Camera+.

Rising with the sun

One good thing about the shorter days of winter is the comfort of getting to photograph sunrises without rising at ridiculous hours. This shot was taken in Nyhavn of Copenhagen just as the sun rose to send its rays along the harbour.

The sun is up and so am I

April is a good month in Copenhagen to get up early and start shooting a lot again after the long, dark winter. Flowers and trees start to bloom and the sun is up early enough, so that you can get up and out before the crowds. I took this one on the station of Vesterport an early Saturday last April, and yes, it is your truly on the left.

Against the light

I like to do silhouettes when out shooting sunrises. It's just a matter of finding a striking feature like this tree or maybe a statue and make sure that the photo is underexposed.

Silhouette of a Horse

At Heroes' Square there's ample opportunity to get some nice silhuets of the statues, like this one of one of the horses of the seven tribal leaders.
