Popeye Village

Malta is used as a location for a lot of movies; Munich, Gladiator, Alexander, Casino Royale and Troy, just to mention a few, were all shot in part here. One of the movies left behind the whole set near Mellieha, so that you now can visit Popeye's village. It is now used as a kind of amusement park for tourists and locals alike. Eagle's Nest

Just south of Munich is the Alps and in the area of Obersalzberg is the Berchtesgarden and Kehlsteinhaus, Hitler's former tea house, also known as the Eagle's Nest. Below it lay the Berghoff which is now totally destroyed but on the site there's a very good museum about the Nazi-period here. We only had a few hours here before the trip took us further south through Austria, but it was worth it.

BMW Museum

One of the popular museums in Munich is this one, the BMW Museum with the showroom BMW Welt just opposite it. We didn't visit the museum on this trip but we did have a look at the Welt, and that was great. Maybe next time the trip goes to Munich the museum will get a visit as well.

Munich

After the short detour to Stuttgart our European Road Trip took us to the Bavarian city of Munich, a city that turned out to be well worth exploring with friendly people, great museums and good food. What more to ask when travelling? The photo here is from the central square Marienplatz.
