Cormorant

I found this black cormorant in a creek just outside my door. It was a bit surprised to see me and took flight almost immediately, but I did manage these photos of it. It's not the most beautiful of birds in my opinion and it's hated by many fishermen, but I think it's a stately bird nonetheless.

A pest or a plus?

At the harbour and the lakes of Copenhagen you'll find a lot of cormorants. These birds are a course for debate here, as many (mainly fishermen, professional and amateurs alike) see this bird as a pest as it do like the fish in the water. Others see it as a plus that should be protected.
